December 2016 The End – FlashForward has given us a date beyond 2010; is this the end game? Do the makers themselves see the show running for another four years? I bloody hope not!
Seriously, the show is cool and worth watching right now because I think it’s a story that can be told in one or, two seasons – max! To drag it on beyond this would be wrong, long and boring.
It would just be a chain yank for three and a half years with deliverables on the final handful of episodes. Four years down the line we’ll be wondering why they didn’t say it all in season one or two. I accept that some shows are only made to have one season (Day Break). The season is long enough to tell some good stories and have a conclusion that makes sense and satisfies the audience. FlashForward is one of those shows.
Then there are shows out there that start off with a great premise drag it on for four/five years and end up losing sight of the story they started to tell. I hope the makers of FlashForward understand that this shouldn’t be a long haul series if they want to keep it great.
