Pin YouTube videos on Pinterest

It\’s just as easy to pin YouTube videos on Pinterest as it is embedding any other link from a websiteI’m really enjoying Pinterest. I just wish I could train myself to spend less time looking at cute cat pictures. I need to have a 30-minute rule or something.

My time on Pinterest today was for research purposes, honest. Of course, I liked and repined a couple of cat pictures but some fun has to be had. All work and no play and all that…

So what did I learn today? Glad you asked.

How to pin YouTube videos

I learned that embedding YouTube videos on Pinterest is just as easy as embedding any other link from a website. All you do is click on the ‘add a pin’ link and paste your desired URL. Simples!

If you have a YouTube channel this is so much better than adding the link to your blog and then pinning from you blog as, this way there’s no need to follow a link to another page to watch the video.

Having embedded my first YouTube video, I decided to check out what other things I can do on Pinterest. Time to pin a Vine video methinks.

Pinning Vine videos not so simples!

Unlike a YouTube video, your Vine video will not play directly from your board. You can link to the video but it will be viewed directly from Vine. Here’s how you pin your Vine video:

  • Create your video as normal and share the link on Twitter.
  • Follow the link to the video and then take a snapshot image of the video for thumbnail purposes. Use your favourite image software to resize the image if needed.
  • Add your image to your Pinterest board in the normal way.
  • Hover over your newly created pin and click on the edit button.

\"Pin

  • You will see a source field, this is where you pin your Vine video URL and click save.

As I mentioned for the video to play you will have to click on the image to be taken directly to the Vine page.

I think I would prefer to embed the video into a blog post and then pin from there as this way, you can add some scintillating text.

What do you think? Will you be posting your Vine videos to Pinterest?
