(Possible spoilers for season four)
It’s been reported that Torri Higginson will not be returning to Stargate Atlantis. After watching the Atlantis episode Be All My Sins Remembered I, along with many fans was under the assumption, heck I was salivating at the prospect that Torri Higginson would have a recurring role in the show. According to Gateworld, this is not to be.
The actress has turned down an offer to appear in an episode of the show’s fifth season, which the writers hoped would be the start of an ongoing arc, according to executive producer Joseph Mallozzi.
“Initially, she was a little reluctant, and perhaps she was thinking about her fans,” he said, regarding a possible comeback. “She wanted to create closure for her character, but we wanted to keep the character alive. … We sent the script for review, and ultimately she passed. We would have loved to have her come back … I think at this point she’s moved beyond the show and is looking elsewhere, and we wish her the best of luck. She did a terrific job, but we will not see her in season five, and it was her choice, and we respect her decision.”
Colour me disappointed I was looking forward to seeing where they would take the replicator Weir story. But I can understand where Higginson is coming from. Torri Higginison signed a 6-year contract back in 2004 to do the show, she relocated to Canada and they fired her after 3 seasons. I’d be a bit miffed too.
