Syfy has acquired the original series Dark Matter from Stargate writers Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie.
The 13 one-hour episodes will be based on Mallozzi and Mullie’s graphic novel Dark Matter, published by Dark Horse Comics, and air on Syfy in 2015. The writing duo will also executive produce the series.
Dark Matter centres on the crew of a derelict spaceship who awaken from stasis with no memories of who they are or how they got on board. They have to work together to survive a voyage charged with vengeance, betrayal, and hidden secrets, facing threats at every turn.
Chris Regina, Vice President of Programming at Syfy, said: “Dark Matter is a refreshing and entertaining space opera that blends an intriguing premise with fast-paced suspense. It will be a terrific addition to our primetime schedule next year”.
