I’m saddened to hear of the death of actor Lee Thompson Young. I enjoyed his Barry Frost character in Rizzoli and Isles; the show will not be the same without him.
According to reports when Lee didn’t show up for work on Monday morning, staff for the show called his landlord. Sources told TMZ that Lee Thompson Young’s landlord discovered the actor’s body with a gunshot wound that appeared self-inflicted.
Lee’s Manger manager Jonathan Baruch confirmed to E! News that the actor took his own life. I’m devastated!
TNT have released the following statement:
Everyone at Rizzoli & Isles is devastated by the news of the passing of Lee Thompson Young. We are beyond heartbroken at the loss of this sweet, gentle, good-hearted, intelligent man. He was truly a member of our family. Lee will be cherished and remembered by all who knew and loved him, both on- and off-screen, for his positive energy, infectious smile and soulful grace. We send our deepest condolences and thoughts to his family, to his friends and, most especially, to his beloved mother.
I’ve been a fan of Lee since his appearance in Smallville as Victor Stone (Cyborg) and then watched him in Flash Forward as Al Gough. He also co-starred in films like Akeelah and the Bee, Redemption: The Stan Tookie Williams Story and Friday Night Lights but his breakout role was playing the titular character in The Famous Jett Jackson.
My heart is broken today. RIP to my dear friend and brother Lee Thompson Young. Writing partner/Friend/Brother #HeartAche
