NBC’s sci-fi drama La Brea will end with the third season, according to Deadline. The series, known for its intriguing plot and magnetic performances, will conclude with a short season consisting of just six episodes.
La Brea had a solid launch in fall 2021 with a 10-episode first season and saw its ratings taper off.
The journey began when a massive sinkhole opened up in Los Angeles, swallowing people and buildings into a dangerous and mysterious primaeval land. The survivors had no choice but to band together, embarking on an epic family adventure to survive the prehistoric world they were thrust into.
The cast includes Natalie Zea, Eoin Macken, Jon Seda, Nicholas Gonzalez, Chiké Okonkwo, Zyra Gorecki, Jack Martin, Veronica St. Clair, Rohan Mirchandaney, Lily Santiago, Josh McKenzie, Tonantzin Carmelo, and Michelle Vergara Moore.
The third and final season of La Brea is set to premiere on Tuesday, 9 January at 9 p.m.
La Brea received a straight-to-series order after the pandemic disrupted production on its 2020 pilot. It had a successful launch in fall 2021 with a 10-episode first season, leading to a 14-episode second season renewal. However, the impending WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes led NBC to opt for a shorter third season, releasing actors so they’d be available to take other jobs.
As we bid goodbye to La Brea, the memories of the thrilling adventures and captivating moments created by the series continue to resonate in the minds of its viewers. The show’s unique concept and stellar performances have solidified its place in the annals of sci-fi television.
