Dear Diary
It’s my first day working from home since the office lockdown. I have to say, I missed working from home, I used to do it once a week. But because I only work 3 days a week now, my new boss really doesn’t like me doing it because reasons. Now look at us!
Anyway, it’s been decided that we have daily briefings via Skype. Let me tell you that this did not go well. My mac seems to hate Skype so in the end I had to call in using my mobile phone. I was okay with it to be honest. I’m still coming to terms with the whole lockdown thing and don’t think my colleagues need to see me looking like a cat caught in headlights.
Today was also the day that phone networks went down causing issues for many people working from home.
Whilst I’m coming to terms with this pandemic, I’ve noticed that all companies are using the same intro sentence in their emails:
“Dear colleague during these unprecedented times…”
“Dear customer these are unprecedented times…”
“The Covid-19 pandemic has brought unprecedented challenges…”
As someone who works in Communications I get it. The government led with it and now we’re all saying it. But you can’t keep saying it. After reading 30 emails, I started rolling my eyes every time I saw the word and then I just started skipping the first sentence. It’s not good, I know. It’s only day one back at my desk and I’m feeling worn down already.
I really need to treat myself to some cat videos. It’s the only way I’m going to get through this.
