Xena: Warrior Princess – The Debt Part I

Synopsis: As Xena and Gabrielle travel toward the Eastern kingdom of Chin, Xena recalls a kidnapping episode from her dark past involving two rival Chin clans.

In the first scene Gabrielle thanks Xena for standing by her through everything. She says “I hope I never disappoint you, Xena”.

Once again Xena is called upon by a woman from her past. This time it’s not a mission that Gabrielle can join unlike the helping of Helen of Troy.

Gabrielle: You owe someone so much you’re willing to just throw away these last few years?
Xena: Yes.
(I guess Gabs forgot she was willing to do the same for the sake of her Demon Seed, hence her second stinky betrayal at the end)

This episode amazes me, there is so much to take in. Xena was not in love with Borias, they had a mutual using of each other. Yet, when she thought Loa Ma would be a taming influence on him she tried to kill her.  Xena was extremely impulsive back then. Having messed up all of Borias’ plans to form an alliance with either of the great houses, Xena finds herself out in the cold.  Despite being dumped by Borias she offers him a cut of her kidnapping deal only to be double-crossed by him

Lao Ma was a beautiful episode in Xena’s life.

Disclaimer: No Frock Tarts were killed during the production of this motion picture, although they wish their had been.
