A filmed version of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Broadway musical Hamilton is coming to a sofa near you, providing you have a Disney Plus subscription of course.

From 3 July, Hamilton fans and those of us who never got the chance to see the original Broadway production can watch the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical in the comfort of our own homes.

Disney paid $75 million for worldwide rights to the hip-hop musical and with the pandemic still leaving cinemas closed, this may be the only way fans will get the chance to see the musical for some time.

Lin Manuel Miranda’s musical has been sold out in theatres around the world wherever it goes, with tickets going for far more than the £5.99 per month cost of Disney Plus. This version, filmed in June 2016, features the original Broadway Hamilton Cast, including Miranda himself, in the title role – something that audiences haven’t been able to see in some time, either.

Daveed Diggs plays Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson while Renée Elise Goldberry plays Angelica Schuyler. Jonathan Groff, Phillipa Soo, and Christopher Jackson are also in the cast.

You can watch Hamilton and much more by signing up to Disney Plus for £5.99 a month or £59.99 a year.
