Tools of the trade – mobile blogging using the WordPress app

The clock is counting down to the end of day six of the #31WriteNow blog challenge and I’m searching for something to post.

Digging through my drafts I came across a review for the season finale of Defiance and I could barely understand what I’d written. That is because I was using Siri on my iPhone to take notes. What a bust that was.

In advertisements for Siri, Apple claims that Siri understands what you say and knows what you mean. If only that were true. Siri and I clearly do not speak the same language. I don’t speak fast and I thought I was speaking clearly but there are words we just can’t agree on. It is a shame because it could have cut a lot of my writing time in half and help with my RSI.

After my failure with Siri I started using my iPad for mobile blogging. I can write notes directly on my blog using the WordPress app. It’s really useful and saves me taking hand written notes that I would never be able to read afterwards, a bit like Siri’s notes actually. The WordPress app is easy to use with an nice editing window and you can even upload images.

The only downside for me, is if I leave something too long before writing it up, I have to go back and watch the episode I’m reviewing to capture the emotions I was feeling at the time. I’ll have to learn to take better notes I guess. If you have a Smart phone or an iPad and you blog on the WordPress platform, this little app is worth checking out.
