The Tenth Doctor and River Song reunite for Doctor Who series

Whovians rejoice! The Tenth Doctor and River Song will be reunited for a new series of adventures, filling in the gaps of the relationship previously set up in the episodes Silence in the Library and Forest of the Dead.

Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor and River Song will be a three-episode, full-cast audio production by for Big Finish. David Tennant and Alex Kingston will reprise their roles as the Tenth Doctor and River Song. The series also features guest appearances by the Fifth and Sixth Doctors (Peter Davidson and Colin Baker).

Though the pair only appeared together in two episodes, Alex Kingston was a semi recurring cast member in the fifth and sixth seasons. Her character, River Song went on to marry the Eleventh Doctor and viewers were treated to many scenes of the couple checking their diaries to see where they were in time and space.

Despite Matt Smith claiming to be possessive of the River Song, this audio series will be a welcome addition to their love story.

Producer David Richardson said: “The Tenth Doctor only met River Song once on TV, and that was at the end of her life. But what happened after/before that, after/before the Eleventh Doctor came on the scene? What a joy this run of stories was to make, bringing David Tennant and Alex Kingston together online to record during lockdown, exploring those previously untold meetings between Ten and River. Those two actors absolutely sparkled together – it was so clear they were having a blast!”

The stories were recorded remotely and the set is available to pre-order at the special price of £27.99 as a collector’s edition four-disc CD box set or £19.99 as a download.
