Now that you’ve decided to use video in your marketing efforts and decided which platform is best for you, how do you make sure your content is seen?
Use SEO
Search Engine Optimisation or SEO is a series of actions a website manager takes to ensure a website can be found in search engines for words and phrases relevant to what the site is offering. It is a marketing strategy focused on growing visibility in organic search engine results. Done well SEO can improve search engine rankings, drive traffic to a website, and increase brand awareness. There are many aspects to SEO, from the words on your page to the way other sites link to you on the web.
In order to achieve SEO for your video channels, you need to make sure you are using the relevant keywords across all your channels. If marketing a particular product, it helps to have a hashtag associated with the product that you can use across all channels and that your audience will recognise.
If placing a video on YouTube make sure to write a good description in the box with your keywords. Both the title of the video and the description should be relevant to the content of the video. Do not use clickbait in your video thumbnail or text to get people to watch the video, it’s morally objectionable and will annoy many viewers. Make sure your thumbnail is eye-catching as people tend to skip over trashy or cheesy graphics.
Google doesn’t index everything on the web especially from social media platforms like Facebook and YouTube but it is big on engagement. This is why creating an entertaining video that your audience will be happy to share will get your content indexed and boost your SEO. Any engagement from customers is good for ranking be it sharing or comments.
Link building
In terms of link building, bloggers can be extremely useful. Many bloggers know the power of video and although they may not create original content, they do curate video content and do a write-up. Bloggers embedding your video on their website creates a link back to your video. If you host the video directly on your website you should ensure your videos can be embedded by content curators.
Reach out to influencers
Vloggers are another valuable resource that can be exploited to help to raise brand awareness. Rather than create your own video you could reach out to influencers on YouTube and offer them free products to review. Understand though that going down this route means you have no control over what is said about your product. If they are already brand ambassadors then the review may be positive. If not, your brand will be out there but not for the reasons you want.
Hotels and holiday destinations benefit from the TripAdvisor website whether they want to or not. Users provide rated reviews and upload videos of their hotel rooms and holiday experience to the TripAdvisor site. This kind of user driven content is free for a company and benefits from brand awareness and SEO.
