Tales of the Walking Dead will premiere in August

For those who haven’t tired of zombie shows, you’ll be pleased to hear the latest series from The Walking Dead universe, the episodic anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead, which will premiere Sunday, 14 August at 9pm on AMC and AMC+.

The first two episodes of the series, consisting of six one-hour episodes focusing on new and established characters, will be available to stream on AMC+ that same night. Subsequent episodes will be available one week early, beginning on 21 August.

AMC also released some first-look photos for the series.

Samantha Morton (Alpha) will return for at least one episode of the series. I have to say; I enjoyed her performance in seasons 9 and 10 of TWD. I might well be tempted to tune in to see what she’s up to.

Other stars of the series include Olivia Munn, Terry Crews, Parker Posey, Anthony Edwards, Poppy Liu, Jillian Bell, Loan Chabanol, Embeth Davidtz, Jessie T. Usher, Daniella Pineda, and Danny Ramirez. This spinoff features high-stakes stories from the perspectives of both existing and new characters in the franchise.

Tales of the Walking Dead is the third spin-off series in The Walking Dead universe. Fear the Walking Dead has just finished its seventh season and will return for its eighth. Last autumn, The Walking Dead: World Beyond concluded its two-season run.

If you’ve not dad your fill of zombies after all that, there is still Isle of the Dead featuring the unlikely pairing of Negan and Maggie to look forward to in 2023 and the untitled series starring Norman Reedus.

Series producer Michael Satrazemis directed three of the episodes, while Haifaa al-Mansour, Deborah Kampmeier, and Ron Underwood each directed one. The AMC Studios-produced series is executive produced by TWD universe overseer Scott M Gimple and showrunner Channing Powell. The latter is a writer and producer on The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead.
