After the success of of it’s DC Comics super hero show Arrow and its spinoff The Flash, the CW decided to commission another spinoff show. The Flash and Arrow had a baby and its called Legends of Tomorrow.
The series centres on Rip Hunter played by Doctor Who’s Arthur Darvill. Hunter is from the future and has come back in time to form a team of heroes and villains to travel back in time to stop Vandal Savage. According to Rip Hunter “Savage commands the most powerful army the world has ever seen.”

The new series will air in 2016 but new characters will have guest appearances in season 4 of Arrow and season 2 of the Flash.
Legends of Tomorrow stars Arrow’s Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer/the Atom and Caity Lotz as Sara Lance/White Canary.
From The Flash we have Wentworth Miller (Leonard Snart/Captain Cold), Dominic Purcell (Mick Rory/Heat Wave) and Victor Garber (Dr Martin Stein/one half of Firestorm).
Ciara Renee (Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl) first appeared in Fast Enough, which was episode 23 of The Flash. She will reprise her roll in season two, episode 1, The Man Who Saved Central City.
Falk Hentschel plays Carter Hall/Hawkman and will appear in both Arrow and The Flash.
Another Legends teammate is Franz Drameh (Jay Jackson) who isn’t listed as appearing in either parent shows but its early days yet.
Danish actor Casper Crump will play the immortal super villain Savage.
Showrunner Phil Klemmer set the tone of the new series when he told reporters at Comic-Con: “We made the present so screwed up and uninhabitable for these characters that they had to literally get onto a spaceship and go to another time just so they wouldn’t be killed either by their friends or enemies.” Sounds exciting.
Unlike it’s parents Legends will have more sex than romance according to Klemmer. In an interview with DC Legends TV he said:
“It’s not a sentimental show; I mean, the fact that we are travelling through time and people are doing something as emotionally fraught as getting to examine their own past… the way that you leaven that is with humour and irony and irreverence. So, it definitely isn’t a romantic show… which isn’t to say that it can’t be earnest at moments, but I think it’s going to be a good bit funnier and filled with irreverence… it’s wry, and it’s adult. That’s how you leaven something like time travel.”
I can’t wait to see how this show pans out. I hope it’s a success has I’d hate to have to tune in to watch crossover episodes of s series I hate just to join up the stories of the two series I love. Fingers crossed that this show will rock!
