First look at Twisted Pilot

Season one, episode 1

Pretty Little Liars is pissing me off so badly with its failure to answer simple questions so I decided to check out the Twisted Pilot. The show premiered back in June but my teen drama quota was already filled with Teen Wolf and Pretty Little Liars.

Twisted Pilot Danny Desai season one episode one

I’ve made room in my schedule for Twisted as I don’t’ think PLL counts as teen drama anymore, it’s just one chain yank after another I think I’m entitled to see other shows. It’s not me, it’s them!

Anyway the show is about Danny Desai (played by Avan Jogia), who returns home to Green Grove after a five year stint in juvenile prison for murdering his aunt. He is forced to return to Green Grove as his mother can’t sell their house, ‘cos who really wants to be buy a place where an 11 year-old killed someone.

Relationships fall apart

In the pilot episode, Danny is trying to make the best of it by trying to reconnect with his two best friends Jo (Maddie Hasson) and Lacey (Kylie Bunbury). Sadly, they are friends no more as both girls were at the house when Danny was offing his aunt. He has spent five years in prison but the girls have spent that time suffering from post-traumatic stress and schoolyard meanness. That’s enough to tear any relationship apart.

Jo and Lacey want nothing to do each other much less Danny but things are difficult as they all attend the same school. Nobody wants Danny in town, so school is bound to be a nightmare for him as kids tend to speak their minds. His first class is with Jo and it’s a psychology lesson where kids are teasing Danny. Jo asks the teacher how to tell if someone’s a sociopath? The teacher explains that you can’t. Apparently a sociopath may not feel empathy for other people, but he can be very skilled at mimicking human emotion. Danny is given the name socio by students of Green Grove High.

Hot socio

Twisted Pilot Danny and Regina

Despite being a pariah, Danny is invited to a party by mean girl Regina who also happens to be Laceys best friend. It seems Regina is happy to court with danger as she has the hots for Danny and isn’t afraid to show it.

When Regina turns up dead the night after the party Danny is immediately suspected. It doesn’t help that Regina texted him after the party asking him to come over and when he refused she texted back saying she knew why he killed his aunt. Danny has so far refused to tell anyone why he killed his aunt so this is an interesting turn of events.

Twisted pilot episodeAdd to that the fact that he had shown an interest in a necklace that Regina was wearing and the next morning he’s pulling the same necklace from beneath his bed. The fact that Lacey spent the night with Danny (talking and sleeping) doesn’t matter as he had time whilst she was sleeping to do the terrible deed and get back before she woke up.

Did Danny kill Regina?

Twisted Pilot Danny is arrestedDanny is arrested in the middle of a school assembly for Regina by no other than Jo’s dad who is the police chief of Green Grove. Jo is annoyed with her dad and addresses the whole assembly saying people should give Danny a chance. If she was disliked at school before, that speech served to increase her unpopularity.

The big questions from this episode are: did Danny kill Regina and is he a sociopath? I don’t know but I will be watching the next episode to find out.

Nice post. I’m glad you found the time to watch Twisted, it’s better than Pretty Little Liars and you will enjoy it. Hope to read more of your reviews about the show.
