Battlestar Galactica Crossroads, Part 2

22 February, 2007 by PashaO
Court scene in Battlestar Galactica

Tigh, Anders, Tyrol and President Roslin’s assistant Tory Foster are all now hearing a strange song aboard the Galactica. Meanwhile, Baltar’s trial comes to a conclusion.

When Lee Adama started batting wholeheartedly for the other side to the point of breaking confidences and throwing in his job as CAG, I had a feeling that Baltar’s trial would not be so cut and dried. It wasn’t until halfway through this episode when Gaeta perjured himself on the stand, that I decided that Baltar’s trial was not what this episode was about. In part 1, Helo, in his temporary job as XO, tells Gaeta that a storm is coming, and I was reminded of this as Lee Adama testified. Yes. There would definitely be high emotions if Baltar was found guilty, but the trial was just a cover for what was really brewing.

We had two subplots running alongside. In the first Roslin, Athena and Caprica Six seem to be doing guest appearances in each other’s dreams. What does this mean? At first, I thought they were linked by Hera’s blood, but that wouldn’t explain Caprica’s link. This is a huge plot point. In the other, we have Chief Tyrol, Tigh, Anders and Tory (Roslin’s Aid) all hearing strange music. I liked the way that Baltar’s trial sought to distract us from these points. Both plots had meaning that I couldn’t see right away, but halfway through the episode, when the Court was adjourned to make a decision as to Baltar’s guilt, I knew he would be found not guilty. I mean, if the trial was really the thing, it would have dragged on until the end, maybe even go into a cliffhanger.

No. A storm was definitely coming, and what a storm it was when it finally hit. I cannot believe that Chief Tyrol, Tigh, Anders and Tory are Cylons. No way. I don’t know if it’s because I don’t want to believe but, I am shocked if it’s true. I’m inclined to believe that something is messing with their heads: maybe the Nebula, but whatever the truth is, I love this storyline. It’s so much better than my theories on the seventh Cylon.

Regarding the return of Thrace at the end, I was not surprised at her return. Having watched the original Galactica, I remembered a similar storyline ( I could be remembering wrong as I haven’t watched the show in years). But is she a vision, or has she really returned? I thoroughly enjoyed this 2 parter.
