Star Trek: Strange New Worlds official trailer released

4 April, 2022 by PashaO
Star Trek Strange New Worlds

Paramount+ has released the official, full-length trailer for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds ahead of the show’s premiere on 5 May.

Last month we saw a teaser trailer that didn’t give much away and over the past week, Paramount+ Plus has released short videos on social media introducing the Enterprise crew members; now, we get a longer length video and a look at what we can expect from the new series.

I have to say, after watching the trailer, I’m very excited to see more of what the series has to offer. Watch the trailer below.

Strange New Worlds is both a spinoff of Star Trek: Discovery and a prequel to Star Trek: The Original Series. It chronicles Captain Christopher Pikes’ (Anson Mount) as captain of the USS Enterprise before James T Kirk took over. Pike, Un Chin-Riley aka Number One (Rebecca Romijn), and Spock (Ethan Peck) reprise their roles from Discovery.

Strange New Worlds will also give us a rendition of Nurse Christine Chapel (Jess Bush), Nyota Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding), and Dr M’Benga (Babs Olusanmokun), all legacy characters from The Original Series. We will also get new characters. La’an Noonien-Singh (Christina Chong), a relative of Star Trek’s iconic adversary Khan Noonien Singh, Hemmer (Bruce Horak), an Aenar and Lt Erica Ortegas (Melissa Navia).

With this trailer, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds shows that we are getting the best of both worlds (Star Trek: TNG pun intended) as the series combines iconic characters from The Original Series with the engaging stories that have made Star Trek: Discovery a fan favourite among longtime Trekkies and newcomers alike.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has already been renewed for a second season ahead of the Season 1 premiere. The second season started filming in January. Last month Paramount+ announced that The Vampire Diaries star Paul Wesley would play the iconic role previously occupied by William Shatner and Chris Pine in Strange New Worlds’ upcoming second season.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will stream exclusively on Paramount+ from 5 May.

UK fans will have to wait until summer when Paramount+ launches as part of Sky.
