The BBC has released a Doctor Who video compilation of Donna Noble highlights. Donna, played by Catherine Tate first appeared in the Doctor Who Christmas Special, The Runaway Bride. Just as she was about to get married to her fiancé, Lance she is transported to the Tardis and she is far from happy. The Doctor is not so overjoyed either but then Donna becomes a mystery to be solved.
Whilst Runaway Bride is not one of my favourite episodes, the introduction of the abrasive, gobby Donna Noble helped to wash away the mawkish taste left by Rose Tyler and the Tenth Doctor’s breakup.
From her first meeting with the Doctor, in Runaway Bride, Donna spent time searching for him, showing up in unusual places hoping to meet him again. She finally bumps into him again in season 4’s Partner’s in Crime and their single-season adventure begins.
The Best temp in Chiswick proves to be a great foil for the Doctor who is still getting over the loss of Rose. Donna whilst excited for adventures in time and space, to give meaning to her boring life as an office temp, she is not smitten by the Doctor. Their chemistry and banter made for an enjoyable season.
