When they say that hindsight is 20/20 they’re not bloody wrong! It’s Friday, I’ve been paid so it’s my day to do the monthly shop. Had I known last week that there would be sweet f*ck all on the supermarket shelves this week, I would have sacrificed my ‘get through to the end of the month’ money and done a full shop then.
I’m completely disgusted at the sight that greeted me in the supermarket. Empty shelves where toilet paper and hand sanitiser should be is one thing but a near-empty supermarket at ten in the morning? It’s shocking. This Covid-19 pandemic has made people insane. I’ve never seen anything like it, not even at Christmas when people stack their trolleys like the shops are closing forever. The world has surely gone mad. I hope people aren’t attempting to resell goods at a higher price like those two American brothers did because the world isn’t taking kindly to price gouging in these unprecedented times.
Seriously, I know the government finally announced a lockdown of non-essential workers but if we all just did a regular shop, there would be enough for everybody. I was lucky there was chicken and cheese on the shelves. Once again, I had to finish my shopping at the corner shop. They always come through in a pinch but my budget won’t allow me to shop there on a regular.
