Showrunner Rafe Judkins throws shade at Game of Thrones
Prime Video’s adaptation of The Wheel of Time was developed by Rafe Judkins and premiered in 2021.
In a recent Twitter post, the showrunner pokes fun at Game of Thrones for how the HBO fantasy series handled its travel times.
After being asked how The Wheel of Time was going to handle having its characters spread across the map in season 2, he responded, “Time gaps are very difficult moving to the medium of television with the stories intercutting, but we try to do as much as we can to avoid one hour cross continent dragon flights.”
This appears to be a dig at Game of Thrones, which drew criticism in later seasons for playing loose and fast with Westeros’ geography and travel time.
Among the worst offenders was the Beyond the Wall sequence where Gendry ran to the Wall, a raven flew to Dragonstone, and Dany flew from Dragonstone to north of the wall in what seemed like an incredibly short amount of time. Or when Varys travelled far to quickly from Dorne to Meereen.
You can stream Season 1 of The Wheel of Time on Prime Video right now. The show was recently renewed for a third season. A release date has not yet been set for The Wheel of Time’s second or third instalments.
