Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks crossover – A surprise for fans!

Strange new worlds and lower decks crossover

Star Trek fans, get ready for an exciting surprise! The highly anticipated crossover between Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks is coming sooner than expected. Following an advanced screening at San Diego Comic-Con, the episode will be available on Paramount+ on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT. No doubt this decision was made to preempt pirating of the episode.

This unexpected early release has also led to an updated schedule for the rest of Strange New Worlds Season 2. 

Here is the revised release schedule for the remaining episodes of Strange New Worlds Season 2:




207 “Those Old Scientists” – Saturday, 22 July 

208 “Under the Cloak of War” – Thursday, 27 July

209 “Subspace Rhapsody” – Thursday, 3 August




210 (Season Finale) “Hegemony” – Thursday, 10 August

A musical episode: “Subspace Rhapsody”

During the panel at San Diego Comic-Con, an exciting announcement was made about Episode 9 of Strange New Worlds Season 2. Titled Subspace Rhapsody, this episode will mark a significant milestone for the Star Trek franchise as it becomes the first-ever musical episode. A teaser for the episode was revealed to give fans a taste of what’s to come.

Subspace Rhapsody will feature ten original songs, including a special version of the series’ main title. The music and lyrics for these songs are being composed by Kay Hanley and Tom Polce, known for their work with Letters to Cleo and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. This unique addition to the show is sure to captivate fans and bring a fresh twist to the Star Trek universe.

Exploring strange new worlds

In the second season of Strange New Worlds, viewers will accompany the crew of the USS Enterprise on thrilling adventures. Led by Captain Christopher Pike, the crew will face increasingly dangerous stakes, explore uncharted territories, and encounter new life and civilisations. This season promises to take fans on a journey filled with unexpected twists and turns unlike anything seen before in any Star Trek series.

The talented cast of Strange New Worlds Season 2 brings the beloved characters to life. Anson Mount portrays the charismatic Captain Christopher Pike, while Rebecca Romijn embodies the capable Una Chin-Riley. Ethan Peck takes on the role of the iconic Spock, continuing the legacy of this beloved character. Additionally, the series introduces new characters, such as Christine Chapel, played by Jess Bush, and La’An Noonien-Singh, portrayed by Christina Chong.

Joining the returning cast members are Celia Rose Gooding as Nyota Uhura, Melissa Navia as Erica Ortegas, and Babs Olusanmokun as Joseph M’Benga. Season 2 also features the return of special guest star Paul Wesley as James T. Kirk, adding an extra layer of excitement for fans. Furthermore, Carol Kane joins the series in a recurring role as Pelia, adding her unique talent to the Star Trek universe.
