Highlander the series

Highlander The Series

Highlander the seriesThe trailers for the Highlander series showed scenes with Christopher Lambert so, I imagined the series would tell the tale from the beginning of how he came to be ‘the only one.’ Well, I got that wrong. Nevertheless, I am not in the least bit disappointed. Adrian Paul is an absolute hunk. He has a remarkable physique. Aside from all that though, the character of Duncan Macleod is more sensitive than that of Conner.

Adrian Paul

Adrian Paul portrays The Highlander Duncan MacLeod, an Immortal who has been around for over 400 years and he’s not bitter like his clansman Conner

Adrian has been described as a cross between Errol Flynn and Douglas Fairbanks, but most of his fans liken him to a young Sean Connery. He was born and raised in London, and in school studied Shakespeare and performed in several plays. However, his focus was on sports, playing cricket and rugby for his school and, later on, semi-pro soccer. He traveled Europe where he modeled, danced and choreographed for eight years before moving to New York and finally Los Angeles.

His first acting role was on the ABC Television series, “The Colby’s”, where he portrayed a Russian ballet dancer, which was based on the Baryshnikov character in the motion picture, “White Nights.” Other roles soon followed with good reviews in the off-Broadway play “Bouncers,” feature films such as “Last Rites” with Tom Berenger, “Mask of the Red Death” and, with Sandra Bullock in the Dale Launer comdey, “Love Potion Number Nine.” Some of Adrian’s television credits include guest appearances on such shows as “Charmed,” “Murder, She Wrote,” “Dark Shadows,” and “Beauty and the Beast” and Movies-of-the-Week such as “The Owl” and “Shooter.” He was also a series regular on “War of the Worlds.”

Worth watching

Highlander the series is definitely worth watching. Although, I liked Conner, I was more on his side because he was supposed to be the good guy. Duncan on the other hand, is playful, loving, compassionate, endearing, I could go on. Did I mention that he is such a hunk. Yes, well he is.

I think Christopher Lambert played Conner better in the Highlander series. He was less moody, more playful. It was a good first episode that had me hooked for good. I loved the relationship between Duncan and Tessa. I think she died at the right time though. I much prefer the relationship between Duncan and Amanda. She is great, and she’s good for him, in a never a dull moment sort of way. I didn’t like Doctor Anne as a love interest for Duncan. I don’t know what it was but, I really couldn’t take to this character.

I am so hooked on the concept of Highlander that I even watched the cartoon version. I stopped after three episodes. Boring. Definitely one for the kids.
