I Just Found Lost and it’s great

I’m a latecomer to Lost having discovered the show on 29 September this year.

A few friends had been raving about it for ages but I didn’t get involved because I felt I didn’t have enough time to invest in another series. I already watch Stargate SG1 and Atlantis, Battlestar Galactica, The 4400 and NCIS. However, with the news that SG1 may well be cancelled, I started looking around for something to fill the gap. I found Prison Break and Lost. I’m not saying that Lost is anywhere near as brilliant and shiny as SG1 but it will certainly keep me occupied for a while.

I watched season one on DVD and I marvelled at the fact that from watching the first episode on Friday evening until the last one on Sunday night I was gripped but I didn’t know why.  It took several episodes before I actually cared about any of the characters and that was probably due to the fact that their backstories were revealed gradually.

The couple that stood out most for me was Jin and Sun. I really felt sorry for them trapped on an Island with strangers who didn’t speak their language. As each episode went on I really grew to like Jin especially as more things were revealed about his love for Sun and his duty to her father.

I loved it when it was revealed that Sun does speak English. I felt even more sorry for Jin and I’m impressed with Daniel Dae Kim’s acting. I remembered him from the series Angel where he played a slick evil Lawyer called Gavin. I really disliked the character but as Jin, he portrays this vulnerability that just tugs at my heartstrings. It’s great.

Season two should be in the post as I type so I can’t wait to catch up with the rest of the world (or at least the UK).
