How many of you are guilty of getting the lyrics to a song so wrong it bears no relation to its source material? I know I’ve done it. Just for fun, I’ve gone as far as completely rewriting the words to a favourite song.
How about when the title of a song eludes you? You know all the words to the chorus but you can’t get the title right. I am so grateful for Google search and YouTube. A lot of the time when I don’t know the song title, I’ll just do a search for the lyrics and hope for the best.
Watch this video as music lover Arturo from the Dominican Republic, rings into a radio station to request they play the song ‘Are those Reebok or Nike’. The DJ is flummoxed and the caller helps by telling him it’s a popular song.
Eventually, the DJ finds the right song and you guessed it, there’s no mention of Reebok or Nike in the lyrics. Have a listen.
The song he was talking about is Rhythm of the Night by Corona. If he’d even said river of the night, he would have been a lot closer. I’m so impressed with this DJ. The caller would have had to sing this to me before I got it right.
