Fallout TV series: A first look into the post-apocalyptic drama

Fallout air date

Amazon Prime Video brings the massively successful video game franchise Fallout to the small screen. The network has released the first photos and several intriguing details about the highly anticipated series.

The Fallout series is set to tell the story of the haves and have-nots in an almost barren world 200 years after a nuclear apocalypse. The narrative follows the inhabitants of luxury fallout shelters, who, for the first time, are forced back into the harsh reality they have long kept at bay.

Ella Purnell, known for her role in Yellowjackets, stars as Lucy, an idealistic vault dweller whose principles are put to the test when her loved ones are endangered. Walton Goggins plays The Ghoul, a surface-dwelling bounty hunter with a hidden past.

Aaron Moten stars as Maximus, a young soldier in the Brotherhood of Steel. Moten’s character firmly believes in the group’s mission to restore law and order to the wasteland.

Kyle MacLachlan plays the role of Lucy’s father, Overseer Hank, who, as the head of Vault 33, is eager to change the world for the better. The series also features Moisés Arias, Sarita Choudhury, Michael Emerson, Leslie Uggams, Frances Turner, Dave Register, Zach Cherry, Johnny Pemberton, Rodrigo Luzzi, Annabel O’Hagan, and Xelia Mendes-Jones.

Behind the scenes

Fallout has been in development for over three years. Westworld creators Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan acquired the rights to the game in 2019. They brought it to Amazon for development as a series.

The series is a collaboration between Joy and Nolan’s Kilter Films and Amazon MGM Studios, in association with Bethesda Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks, the producers of the Fallout games. Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner serve as co-showrunners. They also executive produce alongside Joy, Nolan, Athena Wickham of Kilter Films, Todd Howard of Bethesda Game Studios, and James Altman of Bethesda Softworks.

Premiere date

Fallout is set to premiere on 12 April 2024. Fans can expect a glimpse into a world of power armour suits, vault dwellers, and the harsh realities of a post-apocalyptic landscape. Keep an eye out for more updates and photos from the series.
