What do you do when your colleagues want to shine a spotlight on you and you disagree? Get over yourself and suck it up with protest of course. Here’s my protest:
I’ve taken all the tests and I know my role,
It’s simply to help the collective reach their goal.
I work behind the scenes because it’s my thing
I’m the powerhouse of ideas that make you king.
I’ll write the plays that win awards.
Just keep me away from the crazy hordes.
I’m the song, not the singer.
It doesn’t make me less of a winner.
I’m seriously not looking for fame.
I don’t care if nobody knows my name.
(While I’m alive at least)
And that is the nature of the beast.
I try to take compliments with honour and grace.
Thankfully you can’t see the blush on my face.
So although I desperately want to scream
I’m willing to take this one for the team.
