Richard Biggs was born in Columbus, Ohio, on 18 March 1960. At 13, he was diagnosed with hearing problems. He was partially deaf in one ear and completely deaf in the other ear. He often used his status as a celebrity to raise money for the Aliso Academy, a private school in Rancho Santa Margarita, California, that caters to deaf children.
Though he faced partial deafness, Biggs never allowed his impairments to keep him from pursuing his dreams. His acting journey began with a role on the daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives, where he played Dr Marcus Hunter from 1987 to 1992. This role laid the foundation for his acting career, proving that Biggs was a versatile and committed actor.
In 1994, Biggs landed the role that would solidify his status as a sci-fi icon, Dr Stephen Franklin on Babylon 5.
