Ezra Miller is the latest celebrity to share their #MeToo story.
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 26-year-old actor revealed that a director and a producer sexually harassed him.
It’s easy to overlook that same-sex harassment, and even female harassment of men in some cases, is a genuine issue in the #MeToo movement. As a matter of fact, the backlash against Kevin Spacey, who allegedly harassed a boy during his teenage years, was what helped to push the movement forward.
Opening up on his own experiences with predatory behaviour, Ezra Miller said that an unnamed director and producer tried to ply an underage miller with wine during his teenage years. “They gave me wine, and I was underage.
“They were like, ‘Hey, want to be in our movie about gay revolution?’ And I was like, ‘No, you guys are monsters.'”
Miller talked about how the #MeToo movement was “amazing for a lot of us to watch,” saying that the movement helped him feel empowered to come forward with his own experiences. “It’s a great fucking age of being like, ‘You know what? That shit’s unacceptable.'”
“‘Cause, like, we all knew it was unacceptable when we fucking survived it. That’s what Hollywood is. I thought we all knew we were sex workers,” he said.
In a recent interview with GQ Style, Miller called for a total breakdown and rebuilding of the male mindset. “Let’s rehabilitate men,” he said. “Let’s drop men like flies.”
“I’m with it. And then let’s rehabilitate them when they’re on the ground.”
“This is some Wonder Woman shit right here. What’s the Amazonian solution to this?” Miller continued. According to Miller, men can learn a lot from the animal kingdom. He also said the revolution will be built by those who sacrifice themselves to protect the vulnerable.
“We have a lot of eagles out here, and if an eagle starts dive-bombing the crew, the rooster will go out separate from the herd and pretend to be injured, so that the eagle will come and kill the rooster instead of hurting any of his babies,” Miller told GQ.
“That’s masculinity,” he explained. “That’s what it’s supposed to look like, you know what I mean? ‘I’m going to pretend to be weak, I’m going to pretend to be vulnerable so that you attack me before you’d attack one of the women in my posse.’ You feel me?”
“I’m looking for a man like that,” Miller commented. “I don’t know about you. I’m looking for a rooster-type man.”
