Lost – I Do

16 November, 2006 by PashaO

Season Three, episode 6

In Lost,  I Do, Kate desperately tries to protect Sawyer from being killed by The Others. But at the same time, The Others plan to use her as a pawn on Jack to get him to perform surgery on Ben.

This episode is a vast improvement on those that have gone this season of Lost. Although, Every Man for Himself wasn’t a bad episode.

After “Benry” admitted to Jack that the Others had tried to break him to get him to do the op, I thought Jack would have dug his heels in and refused to budge on his decision not to do the op. Who knew Jack was such a player.

I’ve been watching the Lost series at a distance, meaning that I have tried not to invest anything emotionally in any of the characters. I have my favourites but none of them stood out way above the rest until this episode. We’ve seen enough of Jack’s back story to know that he feels the need to fix things. I think that Ben had hoped that Jack would jump at the chance to put Ben under the knife because it’s in his nature to fix things. Juliet hopes that Jack will jump at the chance to put Ben under the knife to fix the problem the others have with his leadership but Jack is stubborn and unpredictable. That’s what I like about him. He manages to take back the upper hand in this episode by holding Ben’s kidney hostage.

Excellent move, no doubt his efforts will be wasted when Kate lets him know that there is no escape for them. Still great to see Jack giving it instead of taking it.
