Is There A Doctor in the House?

Season one, episode 24

Xena Is There a Doctor in the House? In this episode entitled Is There a Doctor in the House? Xena and Gabrielle are caught in the middle of a fierce war and stop to aid the wounded inhabitants of a healing temple, then try to mediate talks between the warring factions.

On the way to Athens Xena is side tracked when she decides to stop a war and find a safe place for Ephiny to have her baby. Xena really does have many skills. The priests of the temple aren’t skilled in the healing arts, preferring to call on their gods, pretty soon you find yourself shouting at the screen “Is there a doctor in the house?”.

This episode had me glued to the screen. I was literally sobbing when Gabrielle died. Poor Xena. Great acting by Lucy.

Read why Is There A Doctor in the House? is my favourite episode of this season.

Disclaimer: Being that war is war, lots of people were harmed during the production of this motion picture (but since television is a dramatic medium of make believe, all casualties removed their prosthetic make-up and went home unscathed).
