Death in Chains

Season one, episode nine

xena-death-in-chainsIn Death in Chains, Hades, god of the underworld, asks Xena to free his sister from a king who’s captured her in order to avoid dying. This is no easy task as Hades sister is Death herself.

Good story. I wonder though, when Xena was bad were any of the gods interested in her – apart from Ares? Another man of the week is thrown at Gabrielle. This is the start of the “Red Shirt Syndrome”.

(A Red Shirt is any man or woman for that matter who Xena and Gabrielle have a crush on/fall in love with. Just like the Original series of Star Trek, these unfortunates wind up dead.)

Disclaimer: “No jumbo Sized Cocktail Rats were harmed during the production of this motion picture.”
