Season four, episode 14
Synopsis: While accompanying a princess on a pilgrimage to become queen Sheppard and McKay encounter a familiar enemy.
As Stargate Atlantis filler episodes go, Harmony really wasn’t that bad. So much better than Irresistible.
Despite having two older sisters, teen princess Harmony (Jodelle Ferland) is set to succeed to the throne after the death of her mother. Colonel Sheppard (Joe Flanigan) and Rodney McKay (David Hewlett) agree to escort the bratty princess in a rite of passage to the ruins of the Great Temple of Laros.
The last time I saw Jodelle she was creeping me out as a creepy kid obsessed with Lana Lang in Smallville. She was great there and she’s great here.
I hate bratty kids but I like to see Rodney deal with bratty kids. The last time he got into it with a pair of kids was in the season 1 episode, Childhood’s End where he wanted to pinch the ZMP.
Harmony was a charming little story where the girl falls for Shep but no way is Shep gonna fall for the girl especially since she at thirteen years old, she is extremely underage. In the end, the girl turns her sights on Rodney. How often is that gonna happen?
I think Harmony was upset at the fact that John had the ancient gene so was able to use her family heirloom, proving that she’s not that special. the fact that he saved them all from the Genii sent to kill her doesn’t even register with her.
The fact that Harmony is a precocious and spiteful little child princess leads to a lot of spiteful Rodney dialogue. I lapped it all up. If Rodney isn’t hurting someone’s feelings then he’s not bringing his A-game.
I think we may have a few more fillers to come for the simple reason that Rachel Luttrell was probably out of action for a while. I am looking forward to seeing the whole team together again though and for the story to move forward.
