Shooting of the Star Trek movie, which will be set during the Starship Enterprise’s crew’s early years at the Starfleet Academy, started this month. It is due for release on Christmas Day 2008.
The actor who will play the Starship Enterprise’s first captain, Christopher Pike, in ‘Lost’ creator JJ Abrams’ new ‘Star Trek’ movie has been announced.
The actor Bruce Greenwood, whose credits include the films ‘Double Jeopardy’ and ‘Rules of Engagement’, will play Captain Pike.
JJ Abrams has already signed up stars including Winona Ryder as the young Vulcan mother of Spock, Simon Pegg as engineer Scotty and Eric Bana as the film’s villain.
Original Spock Leonard Nimoy will also be returning for the film.
