Stargate Atlantis will begin production later in February for its new 20-episode season that will include the series’ benchmark 100th episode; it was announced on 5 February. With the new season comes a new line up of cast members.
Robert Picardo, who has appeared as International Oversight Committee representative Richard Woolsey on previous episodes will officially join the “Atlantis” cast this season as he takes command of the Atlantis expedition.
Amanda Tapping, whose Web series Sanctuary has been picked up by Sci Fi Channel for a 13-episode run, (read it hear) will appear in several Atlantis episodes, as will her SG-1 co-star Michael Shanks. Fan fave Paul McGillion (who was literally brought back from the dead by fan demand!) will also return for five shows.
I cannot wait to see how they bring Carson back. Apparently one intriguing arc will involve how the Atlantis team – Lt. Col. John Sheppard (Joe Flanigan), Dr. Rodney McKay (David Hewlitt), Teyla (Rachel Luttrell), Ronon (Jason Momoa) and Dr. Jennifer Keller (Jewel Staite) – react to Woolsey’s unique management style.
