Being a winter baby who hates the cold with extreme prejudice I think the best thing about winter is TV. After a spotty summer season of TV when people are expected to get off the sofa and live their lives, the Fall/Autumn TV schedule is like the return of a best friend from a very long holiday.
I can’t write summer off completely as there were some really good shows that premiered this year. Dark Matter and Killjoys are on my watch list for next year. Graceland has been a favourite since in premiered in 2013, shame it’s been cancelled. And then there are the quirky shows like Stitchers and Mr Robot that I’ll definitely been checking out for a second season.
But winter TV will always have my heart with it’s promise of so many new and returning shows to keep my mind off of possible frost bite and other cold related trauma. As usual I compiled a list of shows that I’ll be tuning in to but this year it just seems so bloody long. I don’t think I have the time to watch this much TV. (New shows are starred*)
Fear the Walking Dead*
The Walking Dead
Into The Badlands*
The Bastard Executioner*
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
The Vampire Diaries
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy*
The Last Kingdom*
Ash Vs. Evil Dead*
To be honest I think I can knock The Vampire Diaries and The Originals off the list because I’m always having to play catch up and I’m a season behind on both which means its probably time to let these go. I could say the same for The Walking Dead which I haven’t watched since Four Walls and a Roof, what with Bob and the cannibals and everything (a storyline I despised) but I have every intention of playing catch-up before the Season 6 premiere which is just a week away. I do love a challenge.
Missing from this list is Blindspot and Limitless for reasons I wrote about previously. Also after 20 minutes of The Player premiere, I realised the show was not for me. No doubt as I watch more of the new shows and parse them through the 4-episode test, some of them might also get left by the wayside.
Ah winter. So many shows so little time. What will you be watching as you curl up under your blanky this winter?
